Less Screens More Fun

Over the last 30 years technology has improved at an astonishing rate.  This increase in technology has provided us with a means of communicating and connecting with people around the world.  At the same time this technology is making us almost blind to issues and events talking place in our home towns and neighborhoods

Regardless of which of these beliefs is true, there is no doubt that people are spending an incredible amount of time in front of screens.  According to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, children spend an average of 7.5 hours a day in front of screens.  Adults spend even more time in front of screens. As a current Graduate Student at Lehigh University  I can say that I spend a majority of my day in front of some form of a screen.

I am a firm believer that technology is very useful and people can learn a great deal through technology.  However, I also believe that I the world around us is incredible and there are plenty of ways to create memories by using minimal amount of screens.  Children imitate their parents so the more time that parents spend in front of screens the more time that children will believe is okay for them in front of the screens.

Stop Being Bored wants to allow people to stop being bored and start having fun. Every week we will post a new activity that families can that encourages them to spend limit the amount of time in front of screens  We recognize that screens are always going to be there.  So instead of ignoring screens, we want to use them as the tools they are to start doing fun and incredible things with screens.
